As the name suggests this course trains students in areas related to cutting, sewing and stitching garments. The vocational course trains students in areas like – cutting and sewing trade theory and practical.

The main aim of this trade is to provide vocational training to candidates and turn them into skilled professionals who can work with garment (measure, cut, sew, operate relevant machinery and stitch) and make different types of dresses.

Trade Type: Non- Non-Engineering

Course Duration: 1 year

Qualification: Passed 8th/10th class examination or its equivalent.

Approved by: NCVT

 

What students learn during the ITI Sewing Technology course-:

The course trains them in aspects related to handling clothing material and finishing them into simple garments. Sewing trade trains students in areas such as –

  1. Measuring garments

  2. Drafting garments

  3. Cutting garments

  4. Stitching garments

  5. Finishing garments

  6. Designing and creating block patterns

  7. Operating relevant tools and equipment

  8. Printing patterns using blocks

  9. Operating sewing machine

 

 

Who should Join the ITI Sewing Technology course -:

  • Students whose interest is about the creativity, who enjoy working on the machine, should do this course. This course provides the vast knowledge about the textile industry as well.

  • Apart from this, for students who want to handle special machines/equipment used for cutting stitching & finishing of garments.

  • Operate commercial sewing machine both with treadle & motor. Draft, cut, stitch and finish simple garments for ladies, gents & children, which can give them a good job and a good career, then it is also a great course for them.

  • Career Option

  • ITI Sewing passed students have diverse job opportunities available in front of them. Self-employment is the best path that’s available in front of them. She shall be able to make a living with her skills in her locality, if she desires so. Talking about self-employment, cutting and sewing passed students may start their own tailor shop or garment handling firm. Government usually provides financial assistance for such medium scale ventures.
